Dan is a CPA and the CFO for Costello and Sons Insurance (CSI). As a 20 year veteran of the insurance industry, Dan’s expertise is in the financial reporting arena of all aspects of insurance, including Direct Writer, Captive (Offshore and Domestic), Reinsurer, MGA & Agency. Dan has worked for and with large and small companies, actuaries, audit firms, and consultants. His duties as CFO in the insurance industry have also included reserve analysis, taxation, NAIC reporting, and financial planning.
Outside the insurance industry, Dan has also held senior financial management positions with other companies, both publicly and privately held, in a number of fields, including energy, manufacturing, advertising, technology, distribution, retail, marine services, and real estate development. He earned his CPA while with Grant Thornton, an international CPA firm, and continued into private practice. Dan holds adjunct faculty positions with Dominican University in San Rafael and Golden Gate University in San Francisco, teaching Accounting in their Graduate programs. He maintains his license as a CPA in California, and holds a CPCU (Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter) designation.

Dan and his wife, Pam, have been married for 33 years. They have 3 grown children, 2 of them in college. Dan plays baritone in the Marin County Community Band, and is active with the finance council of his church and Christian school, where his wife is Principal. He also oversees a chess club and tutors math.
